MF-394 Kumagaya Yoshiyuki Fuchi Kashira

Fuchi Kashira set  made by the famous Higo artist Kumagai Yoshiyuki. This set is composed of brass base, with very fine workmanship of falling cherry blossoms. This design is very popular among the samurai as it depicts the beauty of ones life that is fleeting. Such as scene was played out in the film the “Last Samurai”. The use of silver and gold for the design of the flowers adds to the effect of the design. A very nice set by an artist whose works were rarely found signed. He became a retainer of the Hosokawa family (The Daimyo of Higo) and made items for the Hosokawa families residence in Edo. He is known as Edo Higo. He studied under the Nishigaki family and some say also under Shonai Yoshinobu.
