C-103 Yoshioka Inabanosuke Vine Tsuba

NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon certified shibuichi tsuba of vines signed Yoshioka Inabanosuke. Inabanosuke was the name used by several generations of this school. The Inabanosuke line were direct retainers to the Tokugawa shogunate the entire Edo period. Bob Haynes writes that their (Yoshioka) pieces are often equal to the best of their contemporary mainline Goto masters, and that their work is rare as many have been certified to the Goto. The smiths are rated Joko in the Kinko Meikan. This particular tsuba is rare in that it is most works of the Inabasuke line were done in shakudo. This tsuba is in shibuichi nanako and is done with great skill and care.
