Tetsugendo's mission is to make it easier for students of Japanese swords and fittings to appreciate, gain a discerning eye, and have open access to the information and services necessary to enjoy and understand the samurai arts.

In the coming months, we will be redeveloping the site to include many special features and technologies as well as almost daily updates of sword and sword fitting items.

This site is run and operated by Mike Yamasaki and Cyrus Chan.

We are current members of the NBTHK, have done educational spots on such shows as the History Channel to help further the education of Japanese swords to the general public. We specialize in finding items of rare and exceptional quality as well as rare subject matter as well.

Mike Yamasaki has been studying Japanese swords since the 1970’s, and has been studying in Japan for the last 14 years on a more intense level. He has participated in several Kantei (Appraisal) challenges in Japan, and is the only non-Japanese citizen to ever win the National Title in 2001 at the All Japan NBTHK National Convention. He has done much consulting and appraisal work for Ricecracker.com and a few other websites that deal in Japanese Swords. He also lectures at the Nanka Token Kai and the Los Angeles NTHK sword group meetings. On occasion he lectures at the NBTHK American meetings and is one of the founding members of the American branch.

Cyrus Chan lived in Japan for several years during which he spent his free time learning about Japanese swords and fittings by working for a well established sword dealer. He then has increased his study by attending many events and benkyokai held in Japan. Currently, he spends his time traveling between the UK, Japan, and America, while continuing his education in swords and fittings.
